Cornell Lab of Ornithology - Celebrate Urban Birds (CUBs)

Grants of up to $2,500 and in-kind resources to USA, Canada, and International organizations for community events related to the study of birds. Funding is intended for projects to further the understanding of birds and their habitats for underserved populations. Eligible events are those that center justice, equity, diversity, and inclusion in birdwatching and ornithology.
Celebrate Urban Birds strives to co-create inclusive, equity-based citizen science projects that serve communities that have been historically excluded from birding and citizen science. CUBs seeks to improve quality of life and promote better science by including missing voices, perspectives, and experiences. Another of CUB's goals is to collect high-quality data from participants that will provide valuable knowledge of how different environments will influence the location of birds in urban areas.
Community-led applications that focus on sharing community knowledge and expertise and emphasize culture and the arts will be prioritized. Virtual events, whenever possible, are encouraged due to the COVID-19 Pandemic.

Grant awards range from $250-$2500. All applicants will receive free training, materials, and resources to bring their ideas to life; including proposals that are unable to be funded.
